Delivering solutions that work for Architectural masonry

Brikmat masonry reinforcement: stainless steel

Brikmat masonry reinforcement conforms to all current BS requirements for material selection and testing. It has been independently tested by Ceram Building Technology at Stoke-on-Trent, offering performance in line with industry standards and requirements.

Unit production comprises of two longitudinal stainless steel wires being connected by cross wires welded set at 510mm centres, with open ends providing for a 225mm overlap arrangement. The plastic support and spacer feet are attached at pre-determined centres to suit project block sizes.

Brikmat masonry reinforcement conforms to BS 5628 : Part 2 : 2005Material selection as Table 14 BS 5628-2 : Austenitic Stainless Steel Stainless steel grade 304 to BS EN 10088-3 Tested by Ceram Building Technology in accordance with BS 1052-2

Properties

Product Features:

Provides support and accurate gauging of heavy masonryHelps achieve superior build qualityEnables more successive courses to be builtMeets the requirements of BS 5628: Pt 2: 2005Increases productivity with heavy, dense and decorative masonrySavings of up to 60% on mortar wastageEnsures reinforcement is central in the mortar jointProvides consistent horizontal mortar jointsProvides uniform appearance across masonry

The Brikmat range of masonry reinforcement is available in three diameters, giving the Design Engineer a cost effective solution for reinforced masonry.

The plastic masonry support feet are available in two gauge heights, 9mm (Blue) and 10mm (Black), which can be used interchangeably to achieve an overall specification height of masonry.

The support feet clip on to the reinforcement section at predetermined centres to suit the masonry units being used.

This ability to control and vary the the gauge height per course compensates for any tolerance issues in masonry unit height sizes.

Packaging

Curves and radii

Brikmat masonry reinforcement is supplied in bundles of 10 lengths, (30 linear metre) per pack, and are tape wrapped at each welded intersection.

Bundles are packaged onto pallets with enclosed end sections. This ensures the product is lifted out of the pallets preventing the support feet settings altering during handling.

Brikmat masonry reinforcement can be used in curved walls and can be produced to suit most required radii.

Quality assurance

Pre-fabricated units

Brikmat masonry reinforcement conforms to all BS and Industry standards for performance and material selection, as listed below:

BS 5628: Part 2: 2005BS EN 1052 - 2BS EN 10088 - 3

Brikmat masonry reinforcement can be pre-fabricated with welded intersections to suit most shapes and sizes on a bespoke basis. By welding the components at the intersections, accuracy and reinforcement continuity can be maintained.

How it works

The diagram below shows how Brikmat masonry reinforcement eliminates bed joint compression and instability when building with heavy masonry units, resulting in a stable, accurate construction built without any loss of gauge height.
