Delivering solutions that work for Architectural masonry

Brikmat Case Study: KingsOak Developments: Shinfield Park
The development of over 500 homes incorporated feature blockwork specifying Regency Ashlar blocks from Forticrete's Architectural masonry range. Heavy and non-porous, the Ashlar blocks presented a two-fold problem for Brickworkers, which Brikmat helped them to overcome.
The Challenge
John Finch, KIngsOak Site Manager, explains:
" The non-porous composition of the Ashlar blocks prevents adequate absorption of moisture from the mortar, so blocks literally 'slide' around on top of one another."
The Solution
John Finch continues:
"By preventing the blocks from dipping and floating during construction, Brikmat allowed the team to build successive courses without the mortar being extruded under the sheer weight of the the blocks, keeping uniformity of gauge. Dramatically improving productivity to deliver significant time and cost savings, Brikmat was also extremely easy to use. We are delighted with the results, and would highly recommend Brikmat as a tool for even the most experienced bricklayers"
Richard Kirk, Product Manager for Forticrete, is equally impressed:
"Brikmat really compliments our Architectural masonry and Regency Ashlar range of products. Enabling bricklayers to work faster and more accurately, Brikmats' greatest asset is its ability to support heavy dense stone and blockwork, allowing more than the traditional three or four courses to be built in a single shift without the fear of compressing the mortar joints at a lower level. More importantly, the use of Brikmat enhances the overall appearance of Forticrete products."
